i'D NOW at The Red Gallery

"Marking over three decades at the forefront of style and culture, i-D will be ‘popping- up’ at London’s Red Gallery this September, showcasing 30 years of historic covers and laying on a feast of interactive events including acoustic performances, fashion shoots, book swaps, dance classes, coffee mornings and more in celebration of i-D NOW."

I think it is worth a look. The retrospective of covers all in one place is really quite impressive. SO many cover stars and so huge from the start. i-D has become a fashion and cultural british BIBLE. It is something we should be proud of. 

  That said.. my favourite part of The Gallery was the cutest Jack Russell...from what I can see he was called i-D. I miss my dog so much!!

An experimentation after Marina Abromavic's  and Ulay's work "AAA AAA".
A piece of work in it's own right - as a performer and an artist I justify remaking other artists work by placing myself within it in order to create something new or contrasting. None of us can do anything the same. I am not stealing a concept but trying to "feel" it. A performer plays a character.. perhaps I am the generic character of an artist?

This is obviously also personal and a self-portrait as I am in it. The screaming is an emotion although the lack of words takes out language. The scream is universal. With the scream we revert to animalistic qualities .. the reaction can be disturbing or humorous. For me... I am not objective so I would liek some feedback.

This was just an experimentation. The setting is wrong.. it was cold and windy. The clothes wrong... (we were cold) but it still has the raw humanistic and natural qualities. I would like to experiment with removing sound but for now here goes ...

The Carcas Van

As i pull up and park I dread the sight that has become so familiar;
The sickening smell so haunting but turning the everyday.
Splatters of sepia septic blood blending in to grey polluted air.
The van gaping and ready to gobble the grotesque forms and figures
looms.

Flung over dirty back staining stench drenched suit...
Fleshy mounds of putrid fat hard to seperate from the living,
Veiny gelatonous pulsing body lumped over the daily grind.

A treat for consumption.

A disturbing delectability for the eyes, the nose, the mind.
Cold. Hard. Slaughter.
The distaste of the dead.
Not a head just body after body after body,
Misformed mountain.
Cracked ribs in broken trolly beign whelled past it's end.
Rotting, wretched creature, yet not,
The soul has past?

Yet... so in human. SO ROUGH. MORE THAN I CAN TAKE.
Clinicality lost, crulety lost, just pure objecthood.
The objecthood of the dead.
The objecthood of the living.
The dread
The dead
Oh how I hate that bloody bitter carcas van.

Call of the wild..

I would literally do anything for this £200 dress by UNIQUE for Topshop.
I saw it in the London flagship store whilst shopping with my mum and we both fell in love with it. Unfortunatly I woluld need a lot of justifying as it is too much money but...
1. It has an amazing wold print and I consider myself a bit of a wolf child. (nothing to do with Twilight!)
2. Purely because I call Alex Wolfie
3. It is purple (which I love) and not black which I have too much of.
4. The fur will keep me warm in winter!!!!
5. I'm sure I can dress it down or up.
6. Prfect mix of princess and les enfants terrible.
7. Although trend driven the cut is timeless.
8. It would make me happy.

So I have four choices :
a. convince someone to buy it for me
b. give up my money
c. wait untill my student loan arrives and hope I die before I have to pay it back
d. pray there will soon be a sale and it will be 75% off .... yay!!!!
