The genesis of art extended...

Can this "creationism" in art be extended and used to the purpose of the fulfilment of the meaning of life? If we create a world of infinite possibility and an everlasting "image" or something thats purpose is to exist can this replace our need to fulfil ourselves through the eternal battle of "survival"? Maybe "artist" can be extended to human and with our power to create some sort of genesis - through the act of genesis (whatever that may be involving) we do not all have to exist solely for the purpose of  the continuation of the of the human race but indeed for the continuation of some other futile subject. We as the create can choose to extend ourselves in any kind of creation through the passing on of energy. If we will play our own God and create our worlds own future with any kind of purpose "to be" maybe the role of human can change - on some sort of level - and we wont all be battling for inevitable (Our population is huge) personal survival in human living, breathing, form but just the survival of a part of our soul.

Past, present, future?

I just want to get away from everything.
I am going to crawl in to a box and never get out.
I AM in a box and there is no way out.
Humanity is fucked up.

I used to think I was stronger than this.
I was stronger than this.
I used to think there was a reason why I was obliged to be stronger than this.
That it was right to carry on?
I just don't think there is any point in it anymore.
Whats the point in being strong and moving on, in putting the shit behind you, in fighting, in not letting it get to you - because it doesn't get better.
We are never going to win against this thing called "life".
I don't know why I would keep on going apart from to survive. To live an existence.
I don't want to exist. Exist for what? For the shit and the dirt. Just to be another fucked up human being in a
crumbling, futile world.
Not for this.

I can't get away from myself.
I can't get away from everyone else.
I don't want to be full of this hate.
And so so so so so tired of waiting for it to STOP.

My memory is torturing me.
The present is tiring.
The future is not going to be any better.

Seperation

I think you know I mean it.
Because everything changes now.
The end of OUR time.
Never alone again.
No endless spaces.
Our past all dried up and cut and tied ends together.
That world before was our universe - we chose to step in or step out but it was always there.
Doesn't exist anymore!
Black holes are your fascination
But the space up their is disappearing faster than you can imagine.
No more living in the stars or being star dust.
I'm optimistic.
I like this newness.
But I am not stupid like you.
Spend too much time thinking and I know this is the end.
It didn't have to be but decisions are only human to get wrong.
You chose to separate you world.
Don't belong anymore.
It is fear. Fear that haunts us.
Gone. No more.
I didn't think it would happen like this.
the breaking of wishes makes life str o n ger.
All I can say
It seems to be fate
No longer combined.
Evermore.

Pink daze

In the pink dress
She hovers floating above the sea
An ephemeral future.
My dreams are all the time
If only they could fill all the grey and  stop to breathe.
Reality doesn't matter to my soul but it inflicts my body.
If I could escape the monotonous daze.
The repetitive repetition of existence.
The over and over and over and over of the pointless
Materiality of empty existence.
Time flows and is wasting the thinking
Freedom tied and bound and suffocated in the lesser mundane
Life running through wasted water.
Ged rid of this burden.
Society sells the sun to the soulless.
And be free.

This exhibition saved my life (or at lease my love!)...

"Friedrich Kunath: The most beautiful WORLD in the WORLD"
at Hoxton Square (15th April - 4th June 2011) quite possible changed my life. It was another one of those moments (again) when something just clicks and what you are doing at that very time means SO much. It is beautiful. I can't say how it has saved everything but it has. Just the atmosphere?
I must say I was very impressed with the exhibition as a whole. I loved it. I am not saying I loved the art though. Yes some of it was brilliant I couldn't stop staring or listening but it isn't my normal sort of thing. I like the normal white space but it has black walls and a brown carpet? White Cube? ! No!
I just think the art is so right. So human. So touching. We love. We loose. We are alone. We see beauty. We see joy. We learn. We are alone. We remember. We forgive. .We see. We are alone. We reject. We are rejected. We see beauty. We see pain. We are alone. Solitude can be beautiful.

I was sitting on a sofa (in the exhibition) and I started crying. At first it was pain but then I started noticing things hearing things and these beautiful words seemed to come out of nowhere. They expressed everything. I stayed sitting. ... till the exhibition closed and I was asked to leave but I left calm, happy, motivated, clear and inspired.

SUMMER IS NEARLY HERE.

Upstairs there is a boy gazing out of a window at stars. We are so small. The world is so beautiful. This exhibition was completion.

The Eye

From day to day
Looking
Looking
Looking
Open and see
Disconnect from the body and keep
                             the secret locked inside.
Open and shut
Open and shut
Open and shut

What the glass sees it must hold.
Flashing glimpses
Hazy murmurs of sin.
White light.
White stark light.

The eye is running being chased by storms or searching for those within rain.
Searching for life?
Don't turn it off
Don't turn it off.
This secret can't be missed.
Precious memories through bloody gauze.
Disconnected eye.

Jewel of separation.
Camera catches what you don't know.

I didn't see
See and act.
Mirror
Mirror
Mirror

Cracked glass
                         Hedonistic glare
I can't see
                it anymore
Right or

Wrong.

Just experience.

Lustful landscape of life?
HA HA YOU MAKE ME LAUGH
Do I ignore the facts and take it in behind the mask…
This obscurity that I don't understand.
Glimpse
              Hidden Glimpse
Eyelash
Skin
Gory scarred skin.

The Eye

Don't shut it
Don't shut it
Don't make me shut out the light.

Gabriel OROZCO at the TATE MODERN

Black Kites 1997

"For me what is important is not what people see in the show.  It is what you see after... how your perception is changed." Gabriel Orozco

I am going to write about the piece above. Just because I can. It is a human skull marked with graphite pencil. The once living, now dead becomes "decorated" by the living. Something natural. Something real.
Orozco sees the skull as an emblem of death. I have been interested in skulls for a long time. I am not sure if I see them as death anymore. Maybe time. Nature. Existence. It is all part of a cycle of the living. Maybe the soul lives on?
I think this is beautiful. I don't know whether it is wrong. What would the person think about having his/her skull drawn on.
It makes me think about the action of living. The life of the being. The life of the artist. What exactly are we trying to achieve?

Praying for Japan

I don't think there is anybody who isn't currently aware of the devastating crisis happening now in Japan.
It is a time where we must all pray or wish for those directly and indirectly affected as well as for the world itself. This is a time when humanity must pull together.
Unfortunately humans are of the nature that they are always causing crisis themselves but when the natural world turns on us and fights back this has to be a wake up call. I am no expert on natural disasters, climate change e.t.c but the world itself is a powerful force that I feel we has humans all too readily ignore! We cannot continue to fight against our planet.
I am not one to speculate in the "end of the world" or live in fear of 2012 ( if only because that would mean the remainder of my life was spent waiting for the end!) but there is no doubt that one way or another we are destroying our planet. Yes there have always been natural disasters from volcanoes to floods but it does seem that the scale of events is getting far more epic and unpredictable. It is not so long ago since our last great Tsunami ... happenings that we seem unable to predict in our scientific and measured world.
Now on to the nuclear crisis. We seem to have made this disaster worse by throwing the deadliest of weapons into this sideless war. Again it seems our atomic capabilities have been thrown back at us and yet again Einstein would be turning in his grave. This is no firing of missiles or atomic bomb but the result of the damage to the nuclear plant caused by the devastation is still incredibly dangerous. I understand that nuclear science is forefront and could hold the road to better energy resources and helpful sciences but the danger, wars, power battles and destruction seem to much. Humans have not got capable hands to handle such material.
We have nothing to do now but raise support, wish and pray for those in Japan and for the world itself. Humans have already shown incredible goodness and proved they can work for the greater good. It is heartbreaking to here of the workers in the nuclear plant fighting for everyones safety. Heartbreaking and beautiful. We in England are incredibly lucky to be safe and currently unaffected (as a country physically) by these natural happenings but we do not know what is in store.
It is hard for me to write about this because I , of course, no nothing but I do still care. About this and many other events.
Every time something like this happens we have a wave of perspective forced upon us. I would just like to ask that we try to make this remain with us and also that we don't forget about all of this in a couple of weeks. The rebuilding in Japan will go on for years.

AAAA-AAAA-aaaa experimentation (self portrait as therapy) after Marina Abromavic

Aaaa-Aaaa-Aaaa experimentation (Self Portrait after Marina Abramovic) from Elizabeth Ophelia Alice Rose on Vimeo.

An experimentation after Marina Abromavic's  and Ulay's work "AAA AAA".
A piece of work in it's own right - as a performer and an artist I justify remaking other artists work by placing myself within it in order to create something new or contrasting. None of us can do anything the same. I am not stealing a concept but trying to "feel" it. A performer plays a character.. perhaps I am the generic character of an artist?

This is obviously also personal and a self-portrait as I am in it. The screaming is an emotion although the lack of words takes out language. The scream is universal. With the scream we revert to animalistic qualities .. the reaction can be disturbing or humorous. For me... I am not objective so I would liek some feedback.

This was just an experimentation. The setting is wrong.. it was cold and windy. The clothes wrong... (we were cold) but it still has the raw humanistic and natural qualities. I would like to experiment with removing sound but for now here goes ...

Ghosts

We are but ghosts of beings
Shadowless creatures
Silver hooded mortals
Wispy colourless murmurs
Grasping at empty chances
Our memories are lost in
Night dreams.
Star studded streams
Sacrifice nothing
Breathe on
Breathe the dirty ghoulish air
and half live.
Half live like ghosts.

Edie

I have been writing this blog for over a year and I still haven't been able to bring myself to post about Edie Sedgwick. I think it is because I would struggle to emphasise quite what this girl means to me or how much she means to me and why. Anyway here she is `:

Watching these videos completely overwhelms me with emotion. I cannot even watch all of the screen test. I think in the last year or so I have forgotten what my soul is. I have only moved slightly away, so tiny that I didn't realise, but I haven't been me.

I wrote my destiny in patchwork..

I do not expect to be a mother by Tracey Emin 2002

The way we think of ourselves, the way we present ourselves, the way we make oursleves... It is like being trapped. Stuck in the world of our lives. It is fear.  Fear of the unexpected or the softening of oneself, of love or change. Fear of it turning out differently. This life we write for ourselves ... is it some kind of prison?

saying hello

After a couple of days in the country (ok not really the country the suburbs... but ther are fields and hills) I must admit the change is unbearable. Life is so different. So boring. Everything is over by 5pm... but there are a few things that are generally fantastic.

1. The air... I love to be outside and here it is fresher.
2. The sleep... I have a proper bed.
3. The appreciation of other places.
4. The dogs!
5. The trees...
6. Actually having a house and not cheap food!

....
BUT have you noticed how if you walk past someone on a lane you alway say hello... merry christmas! Strangers are more friendly. I guess in London ther are just too many busy people to say hello to.... but it makes me feel good :)

so what is wrong with pretention

With the current phenomena of "Being a Dickhead is cool"

pretention is a big issue.
This song is made in jest. It isn't real and doesn't really emphasise what being pretentious really is.
In realiy pretention is a world wide issue that everyone fails to not be in some form or another. The problem is no one thinks they are pretentious and no one wants to be but everyone judges....
and what is pretention?

... a brilliant article

can't cut this...

It seems we are heading in to another dawn of discontent. With the rise of the tories and the mess of economics politics is back at the heart of the country and money is the biggest issue. Today students protested against the goverment cuts set to hit all universiities.
With the mess we are in (another human creation) something has to be done ... but the future is bleak. Goldsmiths is set to loose 100 % of its teaching grants along with fees going up to £9000 across the board. This is a diar state of affairs. University always was elitist... for the rich but now everyone expects to have this privilege (not that I would call the education system that!). Cutting and raising will lead to a huge shift in the structure of society... between the new and old.. our generation and the next couple of years and again create a class structure damaging to our already corrupt society.
In terms of art school the state of affairs is ridiculous! It seems to have completley bent to the will anf whim of the goverment loosing all notion of what it is or the point of taking part. I was asked today by a pro cut student (fuck that) "Whether I valued my degree at £30,000 ...becasue if I didn't why was i here?" Ha ha i could .. probably did have laughed in his face. He believed the cuts were vital... probably so he could raise his own elitist arse up above the talented bitches around him. The problem is NO I don't. I value my lifestyle, art, the people I am surronded with but not the stupid grade or the fucking university. The problem is raising the fees will take what little is left of art school ( not much... the goverments still to scared of punk) and remove all talent so that just the very few who can pay ( because no..WE CAN'T) can achieve there precious degree! Proof that your an artist? ... BULLSHIT!!!
Ah if only...
Teachers wouldn't get cuts.
People would be motivated.
We would be fresh.
and my whole bloody world wouldn't feel so rigid.

For the time beign though... befoer we tackle the problem of actual art school..
we must fight... at least this is giving us some anarchic spirit!
YOU CAN'T CUT THIS!!!!

The point

I'm strugglin with the point, the purpose to it all. I need some kind of enlightenment some kind of reason otherwise everything just is nothing. I can't just live an die trying to fill my time with some kind of self fulfilling or reasuring purpose, price, gratitude or importance.
I'm painting and it is dead... I feel like I am in playschool. Art is just this human creation fulfilling some kind of blue peter importance. Artits what are artists? ... Political ? Social? ... what is the point!
Politics is just this humanistic imposed nothingness giving people importance or reason.. it fills lives with numbing substance that means nothing! Pointless wasted time to fulfill our cracking society. Society is wasted . . .
We lost track of Survival.. but then what is even the point of that. We all die in the end. We created our purpose , our need for life and we are all so fucking DESPERATE.
So we our born to spawn to keep the process gonig over again and again ..but why... why bother? What a shitty mess! ... The world's dying and all sense is gone . Just a grey mess of false hopes and expectations to keep us going!
Ijust need some kind of reason. Otherwise we are bloodless creatures mimicking some kind of ridiculous living that isn't really living but a story book.

ban religion

by Gilbert and George

This isn't serious it is just words on paper. It isn't a plea but a statement. No rules are inplied... what's the point?
But it shows.. religion isn;t born it isn't a feeling it is a regime a way of living. It isn't the morals it teaches (which are genrally good) but the repression, war, fear, blindlessness and corruption. No the goodness isn't wrong but everything else is. Open up your mind and see where you lead...

so you want an artist influence...

the things we talk about in crits...

I actually think this video is genius though!!
