Stanley Kubrick - Lolita - disengagement from my memory is key.

My first impression of this 1962 film was pretty much "horror" ! It seemed to contradict all my memories all my imaginative dreams of Lolita and Humbert from my vision of reading the book (it is one of my favourites) everything was wrong. I wanted to turn it off... but then I realised.
This is a bloody good film - I just need to take it as a separate world, a separate story. . . was I really expecting a nine year old graphic sexually charged Lolita in 1962?
This film is actually hilarious!.

sorry about the subtitles but all had been disabled...

How could they ever make a film of LOLITA?

Man with the Movie Camera

A cinematic experiment.
One of the first films to break away from "mainstream" and reach in to the avant garde.
A film without a script.
Without cast.
Away from theatre and literature.
A diary of a city.
A cinematic orchestra.
A rhythm.
A juxtaposition.
A life.

THE UNICORN DREAM REVISITED

Blade runners original beautiful ending using stunning footage from THE LEGEND.

When I close my eyes
I see true beauty
My world is beyond my dreams
Somewhere out of reach
I know where I belong.

Scorpio Rising

Yesterday I got up super early to go to a viewing of Scorpio Rising at The Whitechapel gallery.
Although not my favourite of his works the grounbreaking film is still beautiful and full of complex symbolism that I find truly inspiring.

The bikes are in my mind.
I was born to be like this.
Early morning is nothing.
Late nights are everything.
The sun is fresher like this.
Leather is starving your soul.
Feeding mine.
Something is on fire.

Gene Kelly in Cover Girl

The Golden Age
What happened to Hollywood?
Or the WORLD?
We lost our dedication?
Became to "cool"
Technology took over
And beauty is evaporating.
It is the "darling" that makes it.
Loose your self.

Nicholas Lastiola

A piece that I found particularly connected to at the Goldsmith's MA Fine Art show.
A Glimpse
Viewed as an installation it really was quite beautiful. Art that makes you feel. Thats what I get. Art that makes you feel the subtleties

Susu Laroche

KHTM from XIXXII on Vimeo.

It is currently degree show mayhem and I certainly have a lot to say on the matter, especially on St Martins,  I just don't quite no where to start.
So here I begin. Before I write a proper review with my favourite piece from the Fine Art BA Show at Charing Cross Road. Something that had an effect on me. Made me question behaviour, ritual and aesthetically pleased me. That is it for now. The above is a short clip. I love it. Check out http://susularoche.com/ for more.

Girl Interrupted

How much will you choose to indulge in your flaws? What are you flaws? Are they even flaws at all?

It is in the eyes

Burton knows how to create something beautiful. The haunted. The lost.  The strange. The gothic. The sad. The unrequited. The romanic. Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands.
